Victoria is a large area in Northern Blizzard that borders New Cypress Hollow and Downtown Blizzard. From 2015 to 2023, this area of Blizzard was under control of the wider Victorian Republic, an initial alternative to the Kingdom of Palmshire that dominated other developed areas of the world. In 2024, Victoria remains as a cultural, metropolitan federation of communities in Northern Blizzard.

History

Republican Victoria (2015-2023)

The city of Victoria was created in 2015 after declaring it's independence from the AW-based XR, a similar union of cities and worlds. As much of the essential government moved over from AW to VP, Victoria would become the seat of power for the new Victorian Republic by 2016, which laid claim to a significant chunk of Northern Blizzard that was not taken by existing projects. An immediate issue at the time was Victoria simply being new & not taken seriously by the community. Builders usually chose to work on established projects, particularly those tied to communities affiliated with the Kingdom of Palmshire, which acted as the de-facto community government for Blizzard. Victoria had to rely entirely on bringing over newer people from AW via aggressive advertising, notably individuals such as OptimumPx & GSK who would proceed to do their own things in the long-term.

Cannaville would be created in late 2016, becoming one of the first city projects to openly declare an affiliation with Victoria over Palmshire. This would lead to Victoria itself ceasing any discussion about merging with the rest of Blizzard, choosing to pursue its own agenda. Around the same time, Victoria would spearhead conversations within the larger community via the VP Facebook group alongside Summerville, jointly accusing the Parliament of Palmshire of not fully representing all of VP while imposing laws upon the world of Blizzard itself. This essentially ensured the collapse of Palmshire & its government, as well as that of the Lemerican Federation due to community fallout, leaving Victoria as the only "national government" operational in Blizzard & her capital being one of only two operational cities (the other being Summerville) for a long period of time.

Eventually, advanced notice of Vinesauce coming to visit VP by 2017 would unite all of VP towards putting aside prior drama & trying to fix up the world. Victoria by this point still nominally had a republic, but it was essentially on life-support and only Victoria proper was still an actively maintained city, just barely. Fallout from the Vinesauce visit further outraged the VP community at large, and functionally put many projects including Vicky in limbo. It would not be until the COVID-19 pandemic that a resurgence in interest took VP by storm and resurrected certain projects such as Vicky. By 2022, the Victorian Republic was formally dissolved & the capital itself was again placed in maintenance mode.

Dissolution of the Republic & Modern Victoria (2023-present)

The Victorian Republic was dissolved by The Courier because it became untenable & increasingly outdated in a VP that no longer had such an emphasis on nation RP. The only other legitimate community in the republic apart from Victoria was Cannaville, which at the time was also seen as being abandoned by Zeke. However, fallout from changes in AW during early 2023 would spur another burst of interest in VP from outsiders & long-term members alike. Ironically, Cannaville would be revitalized shortly after the dissolution of the republic & play an additional major role in keeping the concept of Victoria as a idea alive. The suburbs of Altes Antiguo & Sparta would also be shortly created around the immediate vicinity of Victoria as well as the second merger of New Beachfield with Vicky, leading to a federation of autonomous communities operating under the banner of a new Victoria.

Cannaville became the first city to be ejected from the rest of Victoria under the regional system on October 2024, and shortly after also became the first to rejoin, dissolve, and merge with another community (Sparta) due to internal issues as an independent community.

Government

The region of Victoria is largely a grouping of federated counties. All of these counties agree to acknowledge that they are apart of the nation of Victoria, although they have a high degree of autonomy in how they operate their individual affairs:

• Victoria (Victoria County), which is also the recognized capital of the region.
• Sparta & Cannaville (Canterra County)
• Altes Antiguo (Altes County)
• New Beachfield (New Beachfield County)

Each county is represented by a Senior Peer, the acknowledged leader of a county, and agrees to collaborate with neighboring other counties towards building up the region of Victoria. These peers can appoint Junior Peers which are recognized city government officials. All are members of the government, known as the Peerage of Victoria, and may be called upon to participate within meetings pertaining to matters involving the region at the request of a Senior Peer.

As of October 2024, the Peerage of Victoria consisted of the following members:

• Victoria is represented by The Courier as a Senior Peer, with OptimumPx as a Junior Peer.
• Altes Antiguo is represented by Ry as a Senior Peer.
• Sparta & Cannaville are represented by Zezima & deathofashes99 as Senior Peers. Cannaville originally was an independent community in Victoria, until its merger into Sparta in October 2024.
• New Beachfield was represented by Cypress as a Senior Peer.
