The region of Victoria is a large area in Northern Blizzard that borders New Cypress Hollow, New Beachfield, and Downtown Blizzard. From 2015 to 2023, this area of Blizzard was under control of the wider Victorian Republic, an initial alternative to the Kingdom of Palmshire that dominated other developed areas of the world. In 2023, Victoria only remains as a cultural, metropolitan subregion in Northern Blizzard.
Overview
Republican Victoria (2015-2023)
The city of Victoria (by extension, the Victorian Republic) was created in 2015 after declaring it's independence from the AW-based XR, a similar union of cities and worlds. During the republican era, Victoria was the second largest nation within the VP universe, and consisted of six cities at its apex. The republic bordered the Kingdom of Palmshire, which surrounded the capital to the north and south, and extended into the Eternan snow caps. Although its capital was extremely small, the city of Victoria was the largest active city that was not apart of the neighboring kingdom at the time. Although nominally a federal republic, the government of Victoria had a supreme leader whom acted as head of state. The powers of the supreme leader were kept in balance due to the peerage system, in which one or two peers were chosen from the leader of the cities of Victoria, Phoenix City, New Ave, Krynn, and Cannaville. The peers were called in to vote whether to approve or decline major decisions made by the supreme leader. Much of early Victoria's history was surrounded by if it should join the rest of the central Blizzard community by uniting with the Kingdom of Palmshire, which it ultimately did not in 2016. In July 2016, the republic admitted it's first non-VP member, which quickly moved into VP after AWTeen was locked down for building. In January 2017, land-grants were given for the creation of a new, provisional member-state of Cannaville. In November 2017, the second AW-based member, Krynn, was accepted into the republic, and remained the lone AW-based member for the remainder of the republic's duration.
In February 2018, the republic was dissolved largely in response to the aftermath of the Vinesauce stream and the initial decline of Blizzard's community as a result of community disagreements at large. Issues specific to Victoria at the time also involved builders leaving to pursue other interests. It would not be until 2022 that Victoria would once again resurrect the republican system, but only briefly. In 2023, the republic was formally dissolved in favor of a different system of management for the region.
Post-Republican Victoria (2023-present)
The current immediate area surrounding the city of Victoria is governed largely by devolved, autonomous counties that are otherwise part of the larger Victorian metropolitan area.
The following areas are politically considered part of the larger city of Victoria:
- Victoria (Victoria County)
- Sparta (Sparta County)
- Cannaville (Canna County)
- Ryan County
- New Beachfield (New Beachfield County)
