Justice of the Peace Act
Text of the Act
Preamble - An Act to create an office of Justice of the Peace to act as the judge who shall have authority to order a trial for any offenses below felony class.
- All felony offenses shall mandate a trial. The justice shall have authority to call a jury to decide a trial, to instruct the jury as he/she feel fit.
- The defendant(s) in criminal cases shall have right to an attorney and to refuse to answer any questions that may incriminate him/her.
- All criminal cases shall be prosecuted by the Attorney General to be appointed by the Sovereign on advice of his/her ministers.
- All cases may be appealed directly to the Parliament.
