Text of the Act
1) An Act to amend the Local Police Act to stipulate that locally elected chief police officer for towns and larger regions shall be titled “Sheriff” and that they shall be elected for a term of 5 month.
2) Sheriff may appoint deputy sheriffs to assist them in carrying out the duties.
3) The sheriffs may be delegated the responsibility for conducting polling for parliamentary elections in their jurisdiction but no sheriffs who are concurrently a Member of Parliament may be permitted to conduct polling for parliamentary election in which they are candidate of.
4) Elections for sheriffs shall be conducted by the Crown.
